Maureen FitzSimons's achievements as a young performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy class. For a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen was a great athlete and was a gruelling athlete in sports when she was a young. In addition to this, she had a gift to act. This was apparent when she won every Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to provide. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14, and she pursued her dreams of operatic as well as classical theater and singing.
